I feel your pain. I am still searching for a thin metal non-flexing spatula. As far as I can tell, this particular item is as rare as, say, regular tongs.

My pitiful efforts at a German-style red cabbage dish pale beside this dish--even the description tastes better than the cabbage I prepared, although at least I didn't include shipwreck pork. No butter and no chestnuts in mine, and vinegar instead of wine. Now I see the error of my ways, and I will mend them. It's great to see another post from your kitchen corner. I've missed them.

Great post as a big asparagus fan myself you might get a kick out of these 2 teh first of which is my favorite entire meal that uses asparagus as a component:

http://kingbiscuitpants.wordpress.com/2009/04/12/shus-standing-rib-roast-asparagus-with-hollandaise-sauce-yorkshire-pudding/

and this one which brings back happy memories of my beloved grandfather and probably the most frequent asparagus delivery system I have ever consumed through the years:

I feel your pain. Fresh asparagus is the most delightful food in the world; maybe one reason for that is that it's so difficult to come by. At least you got a week's worth of asparagus and strawberries in Germany.

How is it that the veggies at your grocery store are often inedible? Don't Swedes like vegs? Don't they rise up in protest? Why the heck not?
